Eastern Visayas and Main Campus Bag Natatanging Guro Awards

The 2nd CMB Natatanging Guro Awardees: Ms. Janeth Morata Fuentes (Eastern Visayas Campus) - Natural Science Cluster, and Dr. Cristina B. Cristobal (Main Campus) – Humanities and Social Science Cluster were recognized during the 46th PSHS Foundation Anniversary Recognition and Convocation held last September 3, 2009.  The Awardees were give Plaques of Recognition and Php30,000 each.

The CMB NG Awards is a project of the CMB NG Endowment Fund Committee composed of representatives of the PSHS System, the PSHS National Alumni Association and the PSHS Foundation.  The first NG Awards was held last year for the Main campus.  This year onwards, this prestigious award included all qualified teachers in all PSHS campuses and will be held every 3 years.

The awardees were nominated by their peers and selected by the NG Selection Committee:  Dr. Victoria Ortega-Espa8don ’78 Main (Chairman, academe), Mr. Rex Aurelius C. Robielos ’90 Main (alumni),  Ms. Mary Jane Turingan (PSHS), Ms. Ciedelle Yu-hico (retired faculty), and Ms. Nicole Marelle Tan ’11 (student).

The criteria for the awards are teaching effectiveness (60%) – performance rating, student evaluation and teaching innovations; research and/or creative work done (20%); academic background and professional development (15%) and other accomplishments and achievements including extension work (5%).  

The winners have demonstrated that balance can be achieved amongst excellence in teaching, high academic productivity (in terms of research and publications), continuous professional development and high spirit of community service.
