Jondi Flavier: Season's Greetings and a Call to Action

26 Dec 2013 1:29 PM | Jan-Michael Espino (Administrator)

During this season of giving, I pray that you will be blest with the privilege of being able to share your time, talents, and treasures to the PSHS System and our less-fortunate alumni. For the victims of the terrible typhoon that affected our Palo, Leyte campus and the earthquake that damaged our Argao, Cebu campus, relief assistance - food and basic necessities, are still needed. However, with the evacuees on campus and the damage to the buildings, we should begin to address the need for our students to continue their education. In the Cebu campus we supported the construction of temporary classrooms; in addition temporary housing for the students was also prepared. For the Leyte campus, however, the task is more challenging: the use of our campus as an evacuation center makes it very difficult to resume regular classes. As we wait for most of the evacuees to have their homes rebuilt or alternative relocation sites for them be put up, the PSHS System Board of Trustees has approved the plan to distribute the affected students to the other campuses around the country.

At this time, our PSHS NAA has decided to focus more of our limited funds to assist alumni – the graduates of the EVC who are now in the universities but are having difficulty with financing from families affected by the disasters.

Please set aside some of your time to help us facilitate the process of identifying EVC graduates who need support for their studies, help us ease the difficulties of our schoolmates with your talents and expertise, and share part of your treasures to reduce the cost of this challenge faced by our alumni.  We pray that they too will have a Blessed Christmas and may we all have a meaningful New Year!
